Exploring design in home renovation and sculptural installation. Comfortable in a studio setting whether developing glass skills,  textiles or woodworking.  While metal and chemical substrates(paint) are active in my work, porous materials such as wood grains, fabrics, and melted sand(glass) are the majority of my portfolio. Undergrad work consisted of the struggle to understand heavy mortal complexes that dealt with existence, mourning and life acceptance. Playing with the origination of thoughts and emotions. Adding sprinkles of youthfulness & playfulness through color and form. Exploring the obvious yet overlooked relationship that dichotomy plays in our everyday lives. Crayon box colors with dark & heavy subject matter... applying deep black hues with light, cheerful context.

While working with a variety of mediums in undergrad, glass was the main love affair. The duality of glass allows me to grasp both extremities in the world, the hot and cold, soft and hard, sharp and dull, etc. After graduating in Studio Art: Glass from Illinois State University in 2008, I explored the professional workforce.  Traveling to the west coast for a few years gaining more experience in studio glass production. Returning back to the midwest to explore positions in management, merchandising and education in 2011. Obtaining first-hand experience in a variety of industries including retail, restaurant, social media, marketing, business ownership, and recycled textiles.

Mississippi Mermaid LLC is a growing, dynamic business model focused in design. It features designer elements of vintage furniture restoration, upholstery, glass sculpture/lighting, paintings, jewelry, clothing, etc.
